Tucked away in Germany’s South-East and bordering Switzerland, Czech Republic and Austria, it’s little wonder Bavaria possesses some of its countries most magical landscapes. Intrigued by this destination (and lured by the promise of some of the finest beers in the land), Skedaddlers Emma and Adam headed out here to cycle our Bavarian Lakes tour and explore this unique corner of Germany for themselves, here’s how they got on…
This holiday was magical. This was our second Skedaddle holiday following an amazing holiday in the Dordogne. Cycling round Bavaria was every bit as breathtaking. The scenery was awesome, from the rugged beauty of the Alps to the picturesque nature of every town we cycled through.’
‘Perhaps the highlight (though it is difficult to choose) was the cycle up to the source of the Isar river. We will never forget reaching the source and then walking on into a basin in the Alps and siting having cured meat, cheese and bread (along with a couple of beers) served at a remote Bavarian house. The scene would have been no different 500 years ago. Around every corner was another awesome vista. Skedaddle holidays are now our staple once a year! No better way to experience a culture. – Adam and Emma Scarcliffe, Edinburgh.
