Once a remote outpost of the Chinese empire, Guilin and Guangxi in the South West of China is now revered as one of the finest landscapes in the world. The city of Guilin is particularly famous for the mountain scenery that surrounds it, but it is not the only highlight of our cycling holiday here! Let us tell you a bit more on what you can expect from your adventure with us…
1. Visiting Bajiaozhai National Park…
Famed for its dramatic landscapes, Bajiaozhai got its name because of its eight sprawling ‘dragonhead’ peaks. These red stone mountains are very high and are often surrounded by the clouds, creating mysterious spectacles you will never forget. Aside from the natural beauty, you will also get a chance to see the historic relics of the Yuntai Temple, dating all the way back to the mighty Ming Dynasty.
2. Soothing the muscles at Longsheng Hot Springs…
Situated in a deep and tranquil valley, surrounded by mountains of dense vegetation, the famous sixteen hot springs are reputed to be “a heaven of peace and happiness”. These hot springs are known to be very beneficial to the human body … the place to be after a day’s ride!
3. Floating down the Li River on a bamboo raft…
A visit to this part of China would not be complete without a scenic bamboo boat ride on the Li River! Surrounded by the views of hundreds of giant limestone peaks, dense forests and long white pebble beaches – this quintessential experience is one of the best ways to appreciate the beauty of the region and is guaranteed to leave you in awe.
