Nature’s beauty is perfectly captured during one of our gentle HFH cycling holidays, exploring Europe’s finest watery wonders! So, for those after enchanting mirror-like reflections and the perfect pedalling pit-stops, here’s our top lakeside loops in 2016…
- Lake Constance: Created by a glacier thousands of years ago, this beautiful crystalline lake is situated at the foot of the Alps, but don’t let its Alpine roots deceive you! With Mediterranean-like sun in the summer months, this is a delightful destination to explore by bike. Alongside exploring the third largest lake in Europe, you’ll have the chance to take in the colourful island of Mainau, known as the ‘flower island’, which bursts with tulips, orchids and rhododendrons – a real floral paradise!
- Lakes and Mountains: You’ll be spoilt for choice in the Salzkammergut region of Austria, where over 76 lakes sit majestically, absorbing and reflecting their stunning surroundings. Your journey will take in many of the finest lakes in the region, including the UNESCO world heritage region of Hallstatt and its picturesque village, described as a ‘vision of the perfect mountain lake’.
- Derwentwater: The ‘queen of lakes’ reflects some of the most impressive scenery in the Lake District, with the iconic peaks of Skiddaw and Blencathra amongst the sights you’ll spot from your saddle. Our trip here is proving popular in 2016 and we’ve very limited availability for our spring departure – save your space whilst you can! Don’t forget we’ve also got a later September date you can join, as well as self-guided options throughout the summer months.
