Our latest Customer Competition winner William Steinmetz took to Facebook to chronicle his leisure cycling holiday in the Loire this autumn. Here are a few soundbites, for a flavour of his two-wheeled journey…
‘After cycling in the Loire Valley of France for several days, we are becoming immersed in the villages, culture, language, and history along with the sounds and odors of the countryside, forests, and rivers. And while it was overcast, windy, and 59 degrees this morning with a misty rain, it then cleared at noon and turned into a nicer day which finished with a visit to the renowned Chateau de Chenonceaux pictured below.’
‘After late evening thunderstorms rolled through the Loire Valley last night, cooler 60 degree temperatures, clouds and occasional light rain lingered through today, bringing much better cycling conditions. Our route headed out into the country with wine grape orchards, fields of sunflowers and picturesque villages such as Chrissay-sur-Manse, which is reputed to be one of the most picturesque in France. We found it to be so as well.’
‘The route took us along the Loire River and through many very picturesque towns. Along the way, we visited one of those unique cave complexes where wine is fermented and matured. All in all, the entire week of cycling in the Loire Valley was a unique and interesting if not challenging adventure for both of us!’
