Holiday Information

St Malo to Nice has always been one of our most popular long distance road cycling holidays. Here we introduce a brand new more challenging version which now gives you the opportunity to complete the journey in 10 epic days of riding. Everything that made the traditional version of the tour a Skedaddle Classic is still included, but with longer stages and fewer days in which to complete the ride, this new version presents a considerably more challenging adventure which should appeal to the more experienced rider.
As before, our journey takes us from Brittany’s St Malo shoreline and doesn’t stop until we reach the glamour of Nice and the warm Mediterranean waters of the French Riviera. Our route takes us through now fewer than 19 regional départements as we ride through some of the country’s most striking and dramatic landscapes.
Leaving Brittany’s coastline and momentarily flirting with Normandy to see the iconic Mont St Michel we head south towards and into the Loire Valley. Next we head into the rolling hills of the Dordogne after which we turn a corner as the hills become ever more prominent, slowly giving way to mountainous terrain and the steep sided wooded valleys of the Cevenne. At our midway point we take a well deserved rest day to recuperate a little and perhaps take an optional massage.
Later we the plunge down into the fruit and vineyard clad Ardèche département before following the famous gorge of the same name to the Rhône valley, and the world renowned wines of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Crossing the Rhône announces our arrival in Provence where the towering shape of Mont Ventoux on the skyline and warm sun combine with lavender fields and blue-shuttered cafés to create the impression that we have entered an entirely new country.
A dawn raid on the mythical mountain sets the scene for the final few stages of our odyssey which also include an impressive ride through the beautifully dramatic Gorge du Verdon. Eventually we arrive in Nice, the so called Jewel of the Côte d'Azur, where we end our adventure by riding the length of the Promenade des Anglais before celebrating with a dip in the soothing waters of the Mediterranean.
