Holiday Information

The Dordogne justifiably carries a reputation as one of Europe’s most beautiful valleys. It’s also one of the most spectacular and fascinating parts of France with many of the best examples of cave art and early settlement. On this Dordogne cycling tour you can also discover great castles, fortified towns and lovely villages. Your circular cycling holiday starts and finishes in the beautiful medieval town of Souillac, with its stunning 12th century Benedictine monastery.
Amongst the highlights are the castles of la Treyne and Belcastel, a chance to visit the famous Grottes de Lacave and the Grottes of Presque which are considered by Prince Henri d’Orleans as "the jewel in Europe’s crown". You will also have two overnights in Rocamadour - the second most visited site in France. From here, you can also go and discover the Causse Quercynois and its capital Gramat. Rocamadour is an important pilgrimage destination, and has been for thousands of years. Built on the site of a shrine to a Madonna, the shrine became famous for its healing powers, and soon became a stop on the pilgrimage path to Santiago de Compostela. You then cycle on through Calès, a village offering beautiful panoramic views of the Causses, before going back up the valley of the Dordogne to Souillac where your trip began.
Our French cycling holidays in the Dordogne are all about good food, comfortable accommodation and beautiful cycling routes which create a memorable cycling holiday experience. Whether travelling to France by plane, driving or taking the train, a warm welcome will greet you at your first night's accommodation. The trip is available for daily departures for a minimum of two people. We book all your accommodation, transfer your luggage and provide you with cycling routes and a detailed itinerary. Just contact us with your preferred dates.
