It’s not everyday you get the founder of Rapha featuring a tour from your range, so we were pretty psyched to see our Italian Dolomites and Alps tour make the head honchos list of ‘10 great cycling holidays‘, as featured in the Telegraph.
Anyone whose anyone in the road cycling world has heard of the clothing giants Rapha, who design beautiful fabrics fit for two wheels! Having become THE much lusted after cycle ware brand for keen roadies over the past years, Rapha is also the official kit supplier of Team Sky… so they know a thing or two about what a professional pack of cyclists are after.
Founder Simon Mottram is the mastermind behind Rapha’s global influence and with quality as his mantra, looks for an excellent mix of scenery, food and culture when choosing a cycling trip. Having been recently asked by the Telegraph to share his favourite cycling trips around the world, we were very excited to see our Dolomites and Alps tour included in the line up! This is a journey taking in some of the Giro d’Italia’s most impressive mountain stages – including the 48 hairpin bends of the Stelvio. But don’t take our word for it! Here’s what Simon had to say…
Featuring some of the most dramatic scenery in the world and also the home of some of the most epic battles of cycling history, the Dolomites are a must-do for serious road cyclists. If you’ve never ridden a bike through the high mountains of northern Italy, first hauling yourself up and over a passo (start with Valparola and make your way over Fedaia and Gardena for outstanding views) and then enjoying the sweet reward of a sweeping descent through the forest, you’re missing a big section in your cycling palmares.
