Holiday Information

Our pioneering new mountain challenge, which explores all three of Colombia’s magnificent Andean ranges, starts and finishes in Bogotá, the country’s thriving high altitude capital and beating heart of the Oriental Cordillera.
We head north initially, into the department of Boyaca, the home of Nairo Quintana, as we make our way to the perfectly-preserved colonial town of Villa De Leyva. After an evening spent exploring the beautiful cobbled streets and soaking up the unique atmosphere we change direction and start making our way down into the Magdalena Valley.
Once we’ve crossed the great river the high mountain roads and lush green valleys coax us ever onwards into the Central Cordillera. Medellin, Colombia’s vibrant and sophisticated second city, nestling in the Aburrá Valley on the eastern flank of the Occidental Cordillera, welcomes us with open arms and invites us to spend a much-needed rest day in The City of Eternal Spring.
Well-rested, refreshed and ready to roll again we leave Medellin, dropping down into the Cauca Valley where, during the course of the next two days, Colombia’s second largest river leads us gradually into the stunningly-beautiful Zona Cafetera.
As we leave the valley and begin climbing towards Manizales, the coffee region’s capital city, things start to get serious as we engage with the Central Cordillera for the second time in our journey and the next day sees us summiting the mighty Alto de Letras at 3,680m.
The glorious 80km descent down other side delivers us back into the Magdelana Valley from we must climb once more back up to the Sabana de Bogotá complete the loop.
