When is the best time to visit Scotland for cycling?

Peak season is May to September, when weather is mildest and days are longest. However, shoulder seasons offer quieter roads and spectacular seasonal scenery.

Are midges a problem on cycling holidays in Scotland?

Midges are a small biting insect found in parts of Scotland, particularly in the Highlands and on still, humid days. While they can be a nuisance, they’re usually easy to manage. They are most active in the early morning and evening, and importantly, they cannot fly in winds above around 6mph—so a light breeze often keeps them at bay. When cycling, you’re unlikely to notice them much, as movement naturally discourages them. Simple measures like using insect repellent and covering up when stationary can make your experience much more comfortable.

Yes! We offer a range of cycling holidays Scotland, fully guided tours with expert leaders, or self-guided options for those who prefer to set their own pace.

Are the routes suitable for all levels?

We've combined the best of the best from the famous North Coast 500 route, with our favourite Scottish rides for a week of riding through spectacular remote scenery!

What type of bike should I use?

E-bikes are available on selected tours for an easier or more relaxed experience. Have a chat with us about whether your own bike is suitable or if you would prefer to hire one of ours.
