Holiday Information

A superbly challenging ride in Italy that visits the Italian Alps during the country's most important professional race: the Giro d'Italia. Lakes, huge castles, vineyards and dramatic mountain peaks mark the far north of Italy as a genuinely special riding destination.
It’s here that the Giro d’Italia showcases some of the most challenging and thrilling mountain riding in the world of professional cycling, and with this holiday you can experience it first hand. The tour follows the Giro while it takes in the most spectacular of these mountains and, of course, their legendary climbs: Mortirolo, Gavia and Passo Mendola.
Starting our week close to the tranquil shores of Lake Como we begin, relatively gently, by riding along the shores of the lake, in preparation for more challeinging riding. On Day 2, we step  things up scaling the Ghisallo, visiting the famous hilltop cyclist’s shrine and Giro museum while we wait for the race to whizz past.
During the course of the next few days things get progressively tougher as we head deep into the mountains watching the pros make history before our eyes. We also get to ride up the Mortirolo and, weather pemitting, the Gavia, experiencing for yourself the same routes as the Giro riders. The Mortirolo is a climb described by Lance Armstrong as “the toughest in the world” and it is the site of an impressive memorial statue to the Italian hero Marco Pantani.
No journey into the Italian Alps can be considered complete without visiting the Gavia and we are lucky the Giro route will pass that way!
We continue our Giro adventure following the race along Val di Sol, also taking in Passo Mendola before heading down into the Adige valley to wave goodbye the the race as we head south for our own celebrations on Lake Garda.
