Trip Information

A fabulous week of cycling on the Cote d’Azur, where the Alps meet the Mediterranean Sea. Discover the challenging climbs, stunning views and quiet roads that make this part of France so popular with the professional riders who base themselves here. From the glamorous coastline to the quiet mountain top villages this is a vacation of contrasts, variety and plenty of climbing. Visit the favorite climbs of the professional riders and allow us to share some of our own favorite hidden gems of the area with you.
This is a tour for riders who love climbing, each day featuring a smorgasbord of cols instead of one grand challenge. The multiple ascents of the slighter lower climbs of the Alpes-Maritimes add up to some seriously impressive daily totals, all within relatively compact distances and close proximity to the Mediterranean Sea.
Our first accommodation is near the pretty village of Castellane at the heart of the Haute-Provence region. Castellane sits at the base of an imposing rock edifice, its church at the very top overlooking the village below, and it is the perfect base for exploring the region. The surrounding area is criss-crossed with stunningly beautiful limestone gorges and twisting mountain roads, our playground for the first two days of riding.
We will be seeking out the narrow roads, that hug the edges of secluded gorges and dramatic cliffs. It’s a uniquely beautiful environment to cycle in with a huge variety of climbs available to us and provides an interesting contrast to the second part of our trip. Our second location is right on the Cote d’Azur giving us access to a myriad of mountain roads. From our coastal location on the Med we raid inland toward the Alpes-Maritimes, ticking off some well-known cols that make this area famous but also teasing out the lesser-known gems to be found off the beaten track.
With so many options in both locations we are able to adapt the rides to the day and the group to provide as much climbing as your appetite for cols or apres bike by the Med, demands.
