          Destination Guide

UK cycling destinations offer huge variety for riders of all levels, from gentle coastal routes to challenging hill climbs.

Scotland: A favourite for those seeking dramatic scenery, with quiet Highland roads and tracks, rugged landscapes and rewarding climbs through some of the UK’s most spectacular terrain.

Northumberland: England’s least populated county is bursting with incredible cultural wonders and some of the best beaches in the UK. Cyclists can enjoy peaceful riding past historic castles, wide sandy beaches and charming seaside villages.

The Lake District: Epic ascents, fast descents, and stunning lakeside scenery, making it a top choice for mountain biking adventures.

Yorkshire: The Yorkshire Dales are famed for rugged valleys, steep climbs, and wide-open landscapes, offering a rewarding challenge for more experienced riders. Nearby, the heather-covered moorlands of the North York Moors provide quiet roads, sweeping views and a sense of remoteness that makes every ride memorable. In contrast, the gently rolling countryside of the Yorkshire Wolds offers a more relaxed style of riding, with peaceful lanes, picturesque villages and scenic farmland – perfect for riders who want to enjoy the landscape at a steady pace.

Even beginners are catered for with shorter (long) weekend leisure trips.

What equipment do I need for a UK cycling trip?

A well-maintained bike, helmet, waterproof and comfortable cycling clothes are all you need to start. Most trips also provide advice on packing, and we offer bike rental on all UK trips.

          Terrain in the UK

What kind of terrain can you expect?

The UK offers a variety of landscapes for every type of rider. Coastal lanes, rolling hills, and quiet countryside are ideal for road cycling, while forests, gravel tracks, old droving roads and rugged uplands make off-road and mountain biking an adventure. Regions such as the Lake District, Cornwall, Northumberland, and the Yorkshire Dales are renowned for their challenging climbs and scenic descents.

          What is the climate like?

The weather can be changeable, so layering is key. Summer brings long daylight hours, while spring and autumn offer cooler temperatures ideal for tackling hills. Light rain is common, but it rarely stops a true cycling enthusiast.

What is the cycling infrastructure like?

Cycle-friendly accommodation with secure bike storage and e-bike charging facilities, dedicated trails, and many of our holidays incorporate sections of well-marked National Cycle Network routes, which makes exploring the UK straightforward. Culture

From historic towns to vibrant cities, cycling in the UK brings riders close to the UK's rich heritage. Market towns, castles, and coastal villages offer fascinating stops along every route.

          Food and Drink

Fuel up at traditional pubs, cafés, or local bakeries. Regional specialities, from Cornish pasties to Yorkshire cheeses, add flavour to every ride. Our routes highlight the best local cafés, bakeries and lunch stops along the way. Some days will be our legendary picnics where we love to choose a scenic spot to stop.
