            Cycling in Piedmont

Piedmont may not have the same worldwide recognition as a cycling destination as other regions of Italy but it does have a proud cycling heritage of its own and, as a cyclist, you’ll be made to feel very welcome here. You don’t have to be a pro racer to enjoy the cycling here though! The lush rolling hills appeal to riders of all levels and the smooth winding asphalt roads snaking through the countryside are often quiet, perfect for cycling. This lush region of northern Italy is often overlooked but there are some stand out reasons why you'll absolutely want to visit Piedmont for your next cycling holiday.

            Cycling Holidays in Piedmont

            Piedmont cycling in the hills

Nestled between the Alps and rolling vineyard-covered hills, Piedmont offers some of Italy’s most scenic and rewarding cycling tours. Well-maintained paths and picturesque backroads make Piedmont cycling a joy at every turn.

The climate adds to the appeal: spring and early autumn bring warm, comfortable days ideal for exploring, while summer offers sunshine-filled rides through bustling towns. For most cyclists, April to June and September to October are the perfect months to enjoy the region’s landscapes at their best.

Skedaddle’s Piedmont – Vineyards and Vistas tour guides you through sun-drenched hills and storybook towns, while the  La Strada del Vino route follows the famous wine trail, blending cultural discovery with scenic climbs and relaxing descents. Both tours offer unforgettable ways to enjoy self-guided cycling tours Piedmont Italy, making every ride a memorable adventure.

            Quote

“Piedmont rewards you at every turn — beautiful rolling hills, vineyard-lined roads and some of Italy’s finest wines, including world-famous Barolo, waiting at the end of the ride. Truffles, rich history and cycling heritage are all part of the journey too. Turin, the starting point for our leisure tour and Italy’s first capital under the Savoy dynasty, sets the scene, while the roads here regularly host stages of the Giro d’Italia and even the Tour de France.”

Faultless guides and trip and I absolutely loved the riding. Honestly was the best organised trip I have ever been on. Ran like clockwork! Steve was faultless even with a large group.

I have travelled with other companies on mountain biking and trekking holidays, but Skedaddle were in a different class with this trip. An awful lot of planning and effort goes into making a holiday so enjoyable and it showed. The landscapes changed with each day’s riding, as did the accommodation with some lovely agriturismos in great locations.

Always well organised and great support. Nothing is too much trouble on a Skedaddle Holiday. I always recommend them to other cyclists. Best day was the last one, great technical uphills and top downhills. Brilliant.
