Holiday Information

A superb road cycling holiday that explores the very best of the coast of Portugal. Starting near Porto the route follows the coastline to the south, starting on almost flat terrain, on a road squeezed in between the ocean and a natural lagoon. From here we continue through pine trees forests to reach Figueira da Foz and Nazaré. The ocean views are a constant in this tour, the deep blue of the ocean providing a huge contrast to the deep green of the forests.
After the fishing village of Nazare the terrain changes on approach to Lisbon and the elevations increase in number, length and gradient, but the pristine paved roads are quiet and just perfect for cycling.
Leaving the ocean for a short while we visit medieval village of Obidos, but are soon back on the coast checking out the amazing scenery around Peniche, before heading towards Sintra with its numerous 18th and 19th century palaces.
The lush vegetation of Sintra mountains and its narrow roads offer some superb cycling opportunites all the way to Lisbon, where we've scheduled a rest day so as to fully appreciate one of Europe's most beautiful cities.
The second part of tour takes on a more relaxed feel due to its relative flatness. However, before reaching the flatter lands we do have the Arrabida mountains to tackle. This range of mountains just south of Lisbon presents us with the most challenging climb of the tour and offers gret views from its lofty heights.
We'll reach the plains of the south following a short ferry journey and we'll soon be speeding along quiet roads along the coast to our final destination of Sagres, the most southwesterly point of continental Europe.
