            E-BIKE HIRE AVAILABLE

This tour is well-suited to both regular bikes and pedal assist e-bikes, and you can choose to hire either when you book your tour with us. Confident cyclists will enjoy the boost from a battery for those cheeky climbs, and with less effort required on the bike, you’ll have more energy at the end of the day for off-the-bike activities. You may choose to hire an e-bike on a group or supported tour but bear in mind that the pace will be set to riders without an e-bike.

            LEJOG Distance

Land's End to John o' Groats Map

The shortest cycle route on LEJOG is 874 miles, but you can choose a route that avoids busy roads and there are plenty of alternatives worth taking to avoid heavy traffic and enjoy a far more scenic journey. Skedaddle’s Land’s End to John o’ Groats Classic is our shortest tour option, lasting 16 days and covering just over 1,000 miles. It's total length and variety of terrain makes it one of our most impressive challenges for cyclists to undertake letting you enjoy the route and feel a great sense of achievement! It’s also a hugely popular challenge for fundraising, with many riders completing the journey in support of charities close to their hearts. Taking on such a significant distance gives the ride an extra sense of purpose, making the finish line at John o’ Groats even more rewarding. Our 22 day option covers roughly the same mileage in total, but spread out over more days.

            Terrain/road details

The Land’s End to John o’ Groats tour takes you through three countries, full of rolling hills, coastal paths, rural lanes as well as a few challenging climbs too. The route uses roads, greenways and cycle paths, but expect a diversity of terrain, which only adds to the challenge and interest of LEJOG. We have two trips which are perfectly suited to road bikes (preferably with a more comfortable set up) and also offer an e-bike holiday which is a great option for any groups with differing levels of fitness to ride together by adjusting the power of the bike according to personal preference.

Land’s End to John O’Groats Training Plan

To complete the Land’s End to John o’ Groats cycling route, you will be on your bike daily for either two or three weeks so it’s best to ride some good distances beforehand on consecutive days to get you used to riding again after a big day. The route is varied, so ensuring you’ve completed some hill training to help your endurance on the actual trip.
On the two week trip, some days require 80 miles or more of cycling and the whole trip will be far more enjoyable for those with a good level of fitness.

Why not test your fitness on a shorter trip? Our Tour D’Ecosse holiday will help you assess your fitness over a shorter distance.
